[Castro Valley, CA — March 26, 2024] — East Bay 4 Ceasefire Now, in collaboration with multiple community organizations including the National Lawyer’s Guild SF Bay Area Chapter, Jewish Voice for Peace Bay Area Chapter, and East Bay Families 4 Ceasefire, is convening a tribunal to examine the actions of Congressman Eric Swalwell in relation to the ongoing Palestinian Genocide. A people’s subpoena was delivered to Rep Swalwell’s local and DC offices, and we hope that he will attend to face his constituents.

Scheduled for Saturday, March 30th, the tribunal will be held at the Castro Valley Library Canyon/Chabot Room from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Additionally, there will be an outdoor overflow space and a dedicated Children’s Village equipped with a TV to stream the hearing so that families can participate in the event. Live Spanish language interpretation will be provided in our People’s Court Room, and the event will be accessible both in-person and virtually via Zoom.

“We are deeply committed to fostering a space for constructive dialogue and accountability within our community,” said Vann Jones, a spokesperson for East Bay 4 Ceasefire Now. “This tribunal seeks to address concerns regarding Rep. Swalwell’s actions and their implications on human rights.”

“Two weeks after we delivered our subpoena to Swalwell’s District and DC offices, he voted in favor of a spending package that will completely pull all US UNRWA funding for the next year, guaranteeing famine in Gaza, and approving billions of dollars in military aid for Israel as they prepare to invade Rafah. Whatever Israel does, Swalwell has signed his name into the historical record; he is complicit and actively contributing to this genocide’s continuation.”

The event has garnered support from members of a diverse range of organizations including East Bay Democratic Socialists of America, If Not Now, Unite Here Local 2, the Council on American Islamic Relations, Hero Tent, Tax Resistance for Palestinian Liberation, and Silicon Valley Democratic Socialists of America, among others.

Members of the public, including those residing outside District 14, are encouraged to register for the event using the provided link: bit.ly/d14tribunal.
